These are made of a very high quality, large particled composite cork, which is then sandwiched between two high-grade discs of whole cork on each end. These corks are ideal for long term ageing, thanks to their ability to maintain a strong level of force against the neck of the bottle for a long period of time. They are, available in a “long” format, as they’re designed with maximum ageing potential in mind.

These corks WILL NOT work at their maximum if used with a hand push in corker. They should preferably be inserted with a floor-corker (though a two handle corker would suffice.)
