 You can use this filter housing with 10" CARBON  filters for water filtration, or with PLEATED  filters for beer or wine wine filtration.

Note  This filter is primarily used to filter beer between kegs, using C02 for  pressure to move the liquid through the filter. When filtering beer from keg to keg the beer should be COLD and before carbonation.

the unit can be used as a gravity filter but not as sucessfully. You need quite a lot of liquid so that the weight forces the flow through the filter cartridge.
